We had a very busy weekend. Firstly visiting family in Auckland for an Easter dinner. We drove up for the day and stopped in to see the kids great grandparents, had a little stop at the shops then went to hubby's parents for dinner. After dinner the kids had a bath got in their Pj's and we headed off home with sleeping kids. It is bliss traveling when the kids are sleeping.
The next morning the kids woke nice and early but oblivious to the easther eggs "hidden" around the house. They were more excited about having their other grandparents (Oma and Poppa) here.
This is Mr1's first ever easter egg hunt. I was surprised how quickly he figured out what to do.
Wow Easter Eggs.
The easter egg hunt went down a treat. We sat down and shared them all out with the family - grandparents and Aunty included :)
We then made poffertjes - dutch pancakes for breakfast.
It was lovely to sit around the table and enjoy poffertjes with the family like we did as little kids.
We then spent a lovely morning at home and some of us went to the Easter Sunday service. After lunch we headed out on an adventure to ride the miniature trains.
We now have one litte train crazed boy who didn't want to get off the trains. Firstly he only wanted to go on the train with his poppa so poor poppa got to go around and around the track multiple times. At the end of each ride he was not coming off and had a little cry till he was back in the line waiting for the next train. Luckily after the 4th time around he decided he was ready to go and explore the park and have a run around.
The trains were a great way to fill in the afternoon - lots of fun for the big and small people :)
It was lovely spending the day with family and the kids slept well last night.
Now to have a lovely relaxing day and decide on something to cook for dinner as we have friends coming over. A lovely way to end a lovely family weekend.

oh how cool, I have just read your Easter hunt post. We appear to have a few things in common. My hubby's parents are Dutch (met and married in NZ though), we call them Oma and Opa. We unfortunately didn't catch up with them over Easter as we were all struggling with tummy bugs and pretty much in quarantine - such a shame! We actually bought them a poffertjes maker last Christmas, and that was in fact what we were going to cook over Easter had we gone to visit! Small world : )
ReplyDeleteNow that I've seen your photos...I'm even more keen to try it out soon!
Also I'm interested to read your comment that you run the Parenting Toolbox courses - they're great aren't they?! I've often thought of doing that myself. Unfortunately teaching full-time until baby #3 arrives in September - maybe after that!
